1st XV flanker Charlie Levings’ Easy Fish company is coming to Wilmslow.
Fresh from the success of his first shop in Knutsford, Charlie is bringing fish back to Wilmslow at an independent fishmongers for the first time in years.
The last one was Pimlotts, on the main road opposite Hoopers, which was probably squeezed out by Sainsburys and Safeway/Waitrose.
But Charlie has enjoyed huge suvccess with his Knutsford store, offering a wide range of fresh fish at good prices.
His new shop is to open shortly in Chapel Lane, not far from the Farmers’ Arms, on the site of the old post office.
Now Charlie’s not been fishing for compliments here. Your website editor has long been a fan of his Knutsford shop. In fact this testimonial is so unsolicited, I have no idea when the Wilmslow shop is opening.
But is can’t be long, because the floor is freshly tiled, the big freezer’s up and running at the back and the sparkling, tailor-made stainless steel display unit is ready for his first catch.
So do yourself – and him – a favour and get along soon to brighten up your healthy diet.

Can you spare an hour or two to help give the club a summer facelift?
It’s not a lot to ask for all the enjoyment we get out of the place through the long, hard winters.
Work days are being planned for Saturdays July 12th and 19th by Barry Fisher.
He asks if anyone coming down could please bring a paintbrush or two, it would help enormously.
The fun starts at 10am each day and all we ask for is as much time as you can spare.
An hour or two would be wonderful. The more people turn up, the less each one has to do. So tell your pals and make a morning of it.
THE RFU draw, for which so many members sold tickets, raised a magnificent £1,000-plus for the club.
Many thanks to all who helped, and a special word of thanks to Alan Hill who organised the whole show.
This kind of fundraiser can be a pain to organise, but through selfless effort like that which Alan contributed, the club is that much better off and the facilities for all will be improved.
A big ‘thank you’ from us all, Alan.
MISSING us already? Then come on down to the Wolves’ Summer Barbecue on July 4th.
The Wolves will be howling, the bar will be bursting and the barbie will be cooking up a treat.
It’s just £10 on the door and a bargain fiver a head for the barbie, so get yer glad rags and dancin’ shoes on and come down for some summer fun.
CHEADLE Hulme School is hunting down rugby playing old boys in a bid to arrange a match against the school.
Running Club member Nick Bishop is trying to help the school track down old boys still playing rugby and wonders if there are any players at Wilmslow.
He said: “I have a close relationship with Cheadle Hulme School (www.cheadlehulmeschool.co.uk) both as a former pupil and also through some work I did for them.
“Last year we reintroduced a once annual event, a cricket match: The Old Boys V The School. It was a great success and is being repeated this year.
“The cricket match is a decent standard, one of the school team made his debut for Lancs 2nd X1 last year in a two day game against Durham and they recently made the last eight of the National Schools Knock out.”
He said the school is now looking to set up a similar match in December for the Rugby team. The school 1st XV V The Old Boys.
Nick asks: “Do you know of any Old Waconians (ex Cheadle Hulme School) at the club?
“If we have anyone within the club who went to Cheadle Hulme School or knows anyone that did , please contact me, Nick Bishop, on 0161 486 9577 or info@completeperformance.co.uk.”

HAVE you the time to put a little back into the club?
There are changing faces and places on the committee and we’re looking for more volunteers to come on board.
Promotion to North Two West for the club means more work on the field for our boys and we want a first class team behind them to keep the club running smoothly.
And in case you didn’t know, there is much, much more to Wilmslow Rugby Club than 1st XV rugby.
There are three more senior sides and a flourishing junior section to look after, as well as matters business, commercial, house and grounds to consider.
We need movers and shakers to lend a hand in a variety of roles and would like to fill these positions before nxt season.
ENGLAND take on New Zealand down under on June 14th and 21st. Both games kick off on Saturday mornings at 8am and Johnners is up for a spot of brekkie if anyone’s interested.
Sat June 14th could turn into a bit of a rugby fest, with Eng v NZ at 8am followed at Aus. v Ire at 10-30am and South Africa v Wales at 1-30pm.
Club honours, colours and man of the century will be awarded to anyone still standing at 7pm that night for England Saxons v Ireland A.
Usual suspects can expect an e-mail from Johnners soon-ish about the catering. Just DON’T turn up at 7-55am, expect to be fed and then sit down in the best seat in the house. If you want scoff, get there early!
If you’re not on Johnners’ e-mail list, contact me, Paddy Mulchrone, on patrickmulchrone@hotmail.com and I’ll pass your inquiry on to the chef.
The Cheshire RFU has written to all clubs in the county, voicing their concern about the behaviour of some spectators and parents on the touchline.
Secretary Peter Rhodes says: “The executive committee is concerned at the decline in behaviour of some spectators and parents attending games and wish to support the efforts of the RFU in encouraging better behaviour.
“With this in mind, the committee has requested that next year all Cheshire Clubs put a notice in their programme setting out the RFU code of conduct.”
The spectator and parent code of conduct urges everyone on the touchline to:
And on the other hand it adds: *Do not force your child to play *Do not stray onto the pitch at any time *Do not verbally abuse match officials – remember, they are volunteers *Do not verbally abuse players or other spectators *Do not use bad language *Do not threaten or intimidate *Do not become involved in physical aggression *Do not to anything which is likely to offend by ay of insult, humiliation or discrimination
