SUBSCRIPTIONS – THE BOTTOM LINE

Subscriptions are the lifeblood of any amateur club and Wilmslow is no exception. We are proud what we have achieved with the help of you, our members, players, sponsors, supporters and friends.

But money is the bottom line, and a six week break from rugby in the middle of the season does not help our precarious financial situation.

That’s why, even in these difficult times, the committee is asking everyone to look at what they get out of the club – and just as importantly, what you are putting back in. Please…if you haven’t paid your subs, cough up now. Please…if you are in a position to dig a little deeper, do so now.

Chairman Jiohn harries writes:

If you are a regular visitor to the club you will have spotted a recent poster, a very big poster, declaring the names of ‘members’ who have still not paid the annual subscription.

Our Club relies on membership. We now have a great clubhouse facility that we can all be proud of, with arguably the best members’ bar in the whole of the North (and the bar hasn’t even been refurbished yet!).

If you are one of those who thinks this all comes without a cost and that you don’t need to contribute – a player or any one of a number of different social member status – then perhaps you should consider trying another club.

If you still wish to be a part of this wonderful club then please – be a good chap and pay your share so that your name – there for all to see – can be removed from the poster.

- if you are a player you will not be selected (your Captains and the Rugby Committee are fully aware of the conditions they are to work within)

- if you are Social Member you may be requested to leave the premises (so let’s save the embarrassment and all have a good time)

If you chose to pay your subscription by Standing Order (a more popular option this year) you are reminded that this undertaking runs for 12 MONTHS. Last year a number of S/O’s were cancelled as the season ended – that is not the idea!

As a Member you can still join the 2x 200 Club at any time – just contact Kit Clucas (01625 575122/e-mail kitandjane8@googlemail.com ). Membership at £60/annum is a small outlay and there are some really good money prizes to be won (first drawn gets £400) with a draw taking place every quarter; work out the odds and it’s a great deal!!

We have a lot more work to be done on the fabric of the club, so donations are welcome. If you want to specify a project, item or dedication to donate for/to contact Max Blackmore or Jonty Fallows, they have a list of most urgent or necessary headliners, or treasurer Tony Kersh will be happy to register all offers of assistance.

Our new hall/functions facility is available for use to all members. As part of our drive to improve revenue we rely on everyone to advertise the resource to friends, colleagues or business contacts – Tony Kersh has all the tariff details or just ask Club Steward Keith Booth for a list of open dates.
