WILMSLOW return to league action for the first time in a month when they visit New Brighton on Saturday – and they can’t wait.
With the game against Aspatria iced off in December and again last week, the Wolves haven’t played since their nail-biting defeat at league leaders Lymm on December 12th.
Wilmslow are eighth in North One West, a point and a place ahead of New Brighton, and keen to reverse the narrow 16-17 defeat at Pownall Park back in September.
“We are champing at the bit to get back on the field of play,” said coach Giles Heagerty, who has few injuries to complicate his selection for Saturday.
“There’s just about a full squad to pick from, bar maybe the odd student getting back to university late. New Brighton will be a strong test at their place, but things were just beginning to click for us at Christmas.
“As I said after the Lymm game, the boys are beginning to understand what we’re about and things are falling into place.
“We are also a very different team from them one that played New Brighton back in September.”
New Brighton played Lymm at home last week – losing 7-20 – in the only fixture in North 1 West to survive the weather. Wilmslow’s home game against Aspatria has been rearranged for February 6th.
The Wolves don’t play at home again until January 30th, when they entertain Broughton Park. They are away again next week at Blackburn, who kindly played at Pownall Park back in September to mark the opening of the newly refurbished clubhouse, then go to Northwich on Jan 23rd.

The Vikings play Blackburn at Pownall Park on Saturday, kick off 2-15pm.
